Prof. Bingxiang Yuan

Biography:

Dr. Bingxiang Yuan, male, professor, "Outstanding Young Talents of Guangdong Province”, graduated from Lanzhou University. During his doctoral program, he was awarded the Scholarship by the Scholarship Council of the Ministry of Education of China to study at the University of Toronto and Ryerson University for two years, and he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) from 2012 to 2015. He presided over 3 National Natural Science Foundation of China (2 face projects + 1 youth fund), Outstanding Youth Fund of Guangdong Province, 2 China Postdoctoral Funds (Special Grant + First Class Grant), Guangdong Natural Science Foundation-Enterprise Joint Fund, Guangdong Provincial Natural Science Foundation Face Project, State Key Laboratory Open Fund Project, Guangdong Provincial Department of Transportation Project, and other more than a dozen of national and provincial scientific research projects. He has published more than 70 papers, more than 30 SCI papers (5 top 1‰ hot papers, 10 top 1% highly cited papers), more than 20 EI papers, and 13 authorized national invention patents. He participated in the preparation of the book "Engineering Geology Route Selection of Qinghai-Tibet Railway". He won the Second Prize of Guangdong Provincial Scientific and Technological Progress (ranked first), the Outstanding Award of China Industry-University-Research Cooperation Innovation Achievement (first finisher), the First Prize of the National Teaching Innovation Competition for College Teachers, the First Prize of the Third National Lecture Competition for Young Teachers Specializing in Urban Underground Space, the Bronze Prize of the First National Post-doctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, the Grand Prize of Guangdong Provincial College Teachers' Teaching Innovation Competition, the Science and Technology Prize of the China Commercial Federation Third Prize, First Prize of Land and Resources (Guangdong) Science and Technology Award, First Prize of Guangdong Geological Science and Technology Award, 2 First Prizes of Guangdong Geological Science and Technology Award, Second Prize of Guangdong Civil Engineering and Architecture Society; Guiding graduate students to win the Third Prize of Outstanding Graduate Student Academic Report of National Academic Conference on Piling, being awarded as Outstanding Class Teacher of Guangdong University of Technology, Outstanding Teaching Prize of Guangdong University of Technology, and Outstanding Graduate Student Supervisor of Guangdong University of Technology (2021-2023) 100% of graduate students received scholarships, 67% received first-class scholarships, and 2 received national scholarships).

Assoc. Prof. Waleed Khalil Ahmed

Biography:

Waleed K. Ahmed obtained B. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, College of Engineering, University of Baghdad, Iraq in 1992. Served over 6 years in the manufacturing and the quality control field. In 2000 he obtained M. Sc. in Applied Mechanics from the of the University of Technology, Baghdad, Iraq. Waleed appointed as a lecturer at the Materials Engineering Department, College of Engineering, University of Mustanseryia, Baghdad, Iraq in 2001. In 2006 completed his Ph.D., where the research was done in collaboration with Nottingham University, UK. Besides, he worked as a consultant for many industrial companies Dr. Waleed moved to work in United Arab Emirates University in 2006. Moreover, he published more than 50 journals and conferences papers. Dr. Waleed his main interest in renewable energy, nanomaterials, failure analysis, FEA and fracture mechanics.

Assoc. Prof. Reyes Garcia

University of Warwick, UK

Biography:

Reyes Garcia is Associate Professor in Structural Engineering at the University of Warwick (UK). He obtained his 5-year Degree in Civil Engineering (Graduated with Honours) from the University of Michoacan (Mexico), his MSc in Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Seismology from the ROSE School (Italy) and University Joseph Fourier of Grenoble I (France), and his PhD from The University of Sheffield (UK). Reyes has 20+ years of research/consultancy experience in the fields of structural and sustainable concretes, FRP composites for construction, and earthquake engineering. He has been heavily involved in management and coordination of multi-partner EU and Research Council-funded projects in excess of £10M. He has designed/coordinated large-scale shake table tests in large scale facilities in Europe (CEA Saclay, France; Iasi, Romania). He has published more than 100 articles, papers and book chapters. He has contributed actively to the UK TG tasks for Eurocode 8-3, and he is a member of the fib TG 5.1 "FRP Reinforcement for Concrete Structures", and of COST Action TU1207 "Next Generation Guidelines for Composite Reinforcements". He regularly reviews research grant proposals for national/international research councils of Europe, Asia and Latin America, as well as manuscripts for more than 20 international journals.
